This group formed for two primary reasons:

1. Taking my homeschooled children on field trips on Friday mornings and early afternoons was fun, but we were missing friends. My children's friends were in public school. Our only chance to see them was on weekends (when places we liked to go are crowded). I realized, it would be so much more enjoyable to go on outings with friends.
   
   
2. Many places we were going offered group discounts! Steep discounts! The base KidZania child ticket cost is $47.95 - and that's before the children start asking for Pie5 Pizza. With a group, tickets are $17 per child. Some experiences can't even be offered without a group - like behind-the-scenes tours or special workshops. I love a good deal (and I figured others would too).

After asking others if this was a concept they could benefit from, DFW Homeschoolers Field Trip Fridays 😎✨ was born. In September 2021, we took our first group field trip to The Perot Museum of Nature & Science. I met friends and made connections that day that I still cherish today. And my children realized that we were, in fact, not alone. There were many children like them, homeschooling - and having fun doing it. Our group has been hosting amazing field trips ever since.

We have some exciting news...

• We're becoming a 501c3 Nonprofit! 🎉
  Our primary program will be our Field Trip Scholarship Fund. Over the past three years, we've seen firsthand how important it is to make extracurricular activities financially accessible. With our fund, we'll be able to cover field trip costs for families who need it. If you're interested in applying for the Scholarship Fund, stay tuned! We'll have the application ready for you soon.
  
  
• We have a new membership that will support our mission!
  Starting now, to join us on field trips you'll need to be a Field Trip Member. The cost is $5 monthly per family, with an option to pay annually. Your membership provides login access to view and register for the field trips of your choice. With your new account, you can easily manage all your field trips in one convenient place. Good news: we're eliminating the per-trip transaction fees you may have paid before. We'll now cover credit card processing fees for all sign-ups on our website.

  Our mission is to aid as many families as possible to be able to participate in incredible opportunities. We believe that every child deserves the chance to experience enriching field trips, regardless of their financial situation. By dedicating most of our budget to the Scholarship Fund, we're investing directly in our community's future. This means more kids exploring museums, discovering nature, and gaining hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and foster learning. Your membership doesn't just benefit your family – it helps open doors for others too. 
  

• Well planned, thoughtfully curated and unique field trip experiences across the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
  Our team carefully selects each location for its educational value and fun factor. We negotiate group rates, arrange special access, and time our visits to avoid crowds. From artisan workshops to tech demos, we cover diverse interests - science, art, nature, and history. We handle the details so you can focus on discovering alongside your kids.
  
  
• Continued honesty and transparency as we continue our adventures!
  Your feedback is crucial to us, and we'll actively seek it out. As we grow, our commitment to transparency grows with us. We're not just organizing field trips; we're building a trustworthy, member-focused organization that you can count on.
